Karol J. Chacho, M.D.
Dr. Karol Chacho is a board certified reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist with over 20 years of experience. He received national recognition when the Consumers’ Research Council of America identified him as one of the country’s leading Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Completing his fellowship training in 1984 at the beginning of the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) era, Chacho was part of the team that achieved the first successful IVF pregnancy in the state of Illinois. Yet, because he trained before IVF was clinically available, he was taught the more natural fertility treatments which specialists had used successfully for many years. These techniques are what Dr. Chacho refers to as ‘the problem-oriented approach to fertility treatments,’ where various relatively simple tests are performed to identify the existence of any issues or medical conditions known to cause infertility. If one or more of these problems exist, they are then treated naturally. If no such issues are found, or if the identified issues are not treated successfully, the patient can then move on to the more aggressive types of fertility treatment such as fertility drugs or IVF. The majority of Chacho’s patients who conceive do so without IVF.
Dr. Chacho delivers services in a small, personalized practice setting, where he personally manages all patient cases. His staff has been hand selected for not only their skills, but also for their sensitivity to fertility issues. Most have had fertility or reproductive issues themselves which have been treated by Dr. Chacho, and came to work for the practice after experiencing the friendly, caring, and personalized atmosphere in his office.
